Your eyes on me, seeing
Straight through.
Your eyes on me, lighting
A fire that still burns.
Your eyes – I live
For the fire in your eyes.

What hope did I ever have?

Your eyes on me, seeing
Straight through.
Your eyes on me, lighting
A fire that still burns.
Your eyes – I live
For the fire in your eyes.

What hope did I ever have?

Long, painful days filled almost two full years. Days I don’t want to repeat ever again. I found these pockets of joy in the midst of it all – because I discovered that my heart could feel again. I could care again. This was the gift you gave me. When the dust settles, I don’t think I’ll find you waiting there. In the silence, I am coming to terms with this.
